Port Connectivity Projects

Project is being implemented by NHAI/Ministry of Road Transport & Highways.  As per information received from NHAI, stretch from Naidupeta to Krishnapatnam port shall  be developed in following two parts:  (1) Six laning of Naidupeta to TurupuKanupur for length of 34.8 Km at an estimated total capital cost of Rs.1424.55 Cr .  (2)  Six laning of TurupuKanupur to Krishnapatnam port (South Gate) (Length – 11.25 Km) as part of the another project viz “Four Laning of Chillakuru Cross Road to TurpuKanupur” at an estimated total capital cost of Rs.924.06 Cr. DPR prepared for both the components. Total expenditure made till date is Rs 68 lakh.

Four lane coastal road from Gangavaram Port to Visakhapatnam Port has been dropped by NHAI as road connectivity to the Gangavaram port from National Highway 16 has already been provided by Government of Andhra Pradesh as external infrastructure facility to the Gangavaram port.

This information was given by the Union Minister for Ports Shipping and Waterways, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha.
