Information regarding PMBJP and BPPI
As on 28.02.2022, 8,689 Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendras (PMBJKs) are opened in the country. State/Union Territory-wise list of PMBJKs is given below:
A study for ‘Improving Effectiveness of Jan Aushadhi (JA) Stores’ was commissioned in January, 2019. Departmental Parliamentary Standing Committee also reviewed the scheme and submitted its report in March, 2021. Based on the aforesaid reports/ recommendations, further follow up actions on implementation of the scheme were taken.
The Governing Council and Executive Council of Pharmaceuticals & Medical Devices Bureau of India (PMBI) already have CMD/ MDs of the Pharma PSUs as industry representatives. Recently, a committee has been constituted to consider augmentation of the product basket under the scheme having representatives from National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA), National Institutes of Pharmaceutical Education & Research (NIPER), Central Drugs Standards Control Organization (CDSCO) and Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The Government releases grants to PMBI for providing incentives to PMBJKs, procurement of products to be sold at discounted rates, media & publicity and establishment expenses of Pharma Bureau set up under PMBI.
