The Ministry has launched a new Scheme namely the Scheme for Economic Empowerment of DNTs (SEED). One of the component of the scheme provides for financial support for construction of houses to members of the DNT/NT/SNT (De-notified/Nomadic/Semi-Nomadic) communities. The admissible support is Rs.1.20 lakhs in plains and 1.30 lakhs in hilly areas (per unit assistance).

One of the component of this SEED scheme is to provide financial assistance to facilitate livelihood initiatives at community level to build up and strengthen small clusters of DNT/NT/SNT community institutions.

This information was given by the Minister of State for Social Justice & Empowerment, Sushri Pratima Bhoumik in a written reply in the Lok Sabha today.
