Fish Farmers Producer Organisatins/Companies
The details of the Fish Farmers Producer Organizations (FFPOs) envisaged for under the
Centrally Sponsored Schemes in various States including in the State of Andhra Pradesh are as below:-
- The Department of Fisheries, Government of Inida through Small Farmers Agri-Business Consortium (SFAC), Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India assisted for setting up of 5 FFPOs in the States of Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh on pilot basis under the erstwhile Centrally Sponsored Scheme Blue RevolutionIntegrated Development and Management of Fisheries. These 5 Fish Farmers Producer Organizations including the one FFPO in Andhra Pradesh have already been registered.
- The Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying under the Pradhan MantriMatsyaSampadaYojana (PMMSY) implemented with effect from Financial Year 2020-21, inter-alia, provides financial assistance for setting up of Fish Farmers Producer Organizations (FFPOs) to economically empower the fishers and fish farmers and enhance their bargaining power. The Department of Fisheries so far has accorded approval for setting up of a total of 92 Nos FFPOs during the financial year 2020-21 comprising 70 FFPOs through National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) and 22 FFPOs through National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB) and out of these NCDC has allocated 5 Nos FFPOs for Andhra Pradesh.
- The Department of Fisheries, Government of Andhra Pradesh has reported initiation of a
program for establishment of of 50 FFPOs with financial assistance under RashtriyaKrishiVikasYojana (RKVY).
(b) and (c): PMMSY, inter-alia, envisages to address the critical gap in the fish production, productivity, value chain and exports. Under the PMMSY scheme, the Department of Fisheries, Government of India has approved the proposals of various States/ UTs to the tune of Rs. 189.64 crore with central share of Rs. 60.86 crore for development of cold chain facilities including 240 nos processing plants, cold storages, ice plants, etc. The Government of Andhra Pradesh has reported that establishment of 10 nos processing with cold storage plants have been selected for the State including 2 nos in Northern Andhra Pradesh with unit cost of Rs. 40.00 crore each.
