Growth Rate of Fishing
- : As per the data provided by National Accounts Division, Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, the forestry and fishing witnessed the growth rate of 3.1% in 2020-21 against the 2.04 % in 2019-20 of Gross Value Added at basic price.
- : As per the survey on “Situation Assessment of Agriculture Households” during National Sample Survey (NSS) 70th round ( 2013) and during NSS 77th round (2019) by National Statistical Office, Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, the average monthly income from farming of animals / livestock has increased to Rs. 1,582 in 2018-19 from Rs. 763 in 2012-13.
- : The Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying is implementing the following schemes / programmes for sustained and comprehensive development of fishing, animal husbandry and dairying sectors and thereby helping the small and marginal farmers to diversify their income:
i) Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY).

- Fisheries and Aquaculture Infrastructure Development Fund (FIDF).
- Rashtriya Gokul Mission (RGM).
- National Programme for Dairy Development (NPDD.
- Dairy Processing and Infrastructure Development Fund (DIDF. vi) National Livestock Mission (NLM).
vii) Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund (AHIDF).
In addition, since 2018-19, the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) facility has also been extended to Animal Husbandry, Dairying, Fish farmers and Fishers to meet their working capital requirement.
