Cost Norms for Supplementary Nutrition
The cost norms in 2017 were revised with reference to average Consumer Price Index-Rural Labour (CPI-RL) Index for May, 2016.
Recipes prepared for beneficiaries under the Supplementary Nutrition Programme mainly consist of foodgrains like rice, wheat, and millets and these foodgrains are supplied at subsidised rates of Rs 3, Rs 2 and Rs 1 respectively to the states. In view of subsidised rates of foodgrains, these amounts fixed for various categories of beneficiaries have been found to be sufficient to meet the requirements as provided under Schedule-I of National Food Security Act (NFSA), 2013.
This information was given by the Union Minister of Women and Child Development, Smt. Smriti Zubin Irani, in a written reply in Rajya Sabha today.
