The Ministry of Environment &
Forests has invited the nominations for the “Indira
Gandhi Paryavaran Puraskar
(IGPP)’ for the year 2013 for outstanding work done towards
protection/overall improvement of the environment. The award was instituted in 1987 in memory of
the former Prime Minister, the Late Smt. Indira Gandhi.
Any citizen of India having at least
10 years work experience in the field of Environment (substantiated in support
of his experience by published/field work)/NGO working the field of environment
with at least five years experience/Environment and Forests Department of
States/UTs/ State Pollution Control Board/District Collector/Magistrate can
propose a name of any citizen or organization of India with at least five years
working experience in the field of environment.
The Award, which is conferred
annually, comprises of two cash prizes of Rs 5,00,000/- each in the
‘Organisation’ category, and three prizes, one each of Rs 5,00,000/-, Rs
3,00,000 and Rs 2,00,000/- in the ‘
Individual’ category, as per the revised regulations governing IGPP applicable
from the year 2009 onwards. Along with the cash prize, the awardees are given a
Silver Lotus Trophy and a Citation. Any citizen of India or organization
working in India for the cause of environment is eligible for the Award. There
is no age limit for an ‘Individual’ nominee. The Regulations may be accessed at

proposer and complete in all respects in the prescribed proforma,
should be sent to Economic Adviser (EI-Division), Ministry of Environment &
Forests, Room no. 908, Paryavaran Bhawan,
CGO Complex, Lodi Road, New Delhi-110003 with a super script “Nomination for
IGPP- 2013”. The last date for receipt of nominations is 29th
August, 2013.
