Permanent Benches of Karnataka High Court Established at Dharwad and Gulbarga
The President here today issued the formal Order for the establishment of Permanent Benches of the High Court of Karanataka at Dharwad and Gulbarga. As per the Order called “High Court of Karnataka (Establishment of Pernanent Benches at Dharwad and Gulbarga) Order, 2013”, the Permanent Bench at Dharwad will come into operation on 24th August 2013 and that at Gulbarga on 31st August 2013. Under this Order, the Chief Justice of the High Court of Karnataka has been empowered to nominate Judges from his High Court to sit at Dharwad in respect of cases arising in the Districts of Bagalkot, Bellary, Belgaum, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, Uttara Kannada-Karwar and Koppal; and at Gulbarga in respect of cases arising in the Districts of Bidar, Bijapur, Gulbarga and Raichur. The Order also gives the Chief Justice of the High Court of Karnataka, the discretionary power to order any case or class of cases arising in any of the above mentioned districts to be heard at Bangalore.
