The
Minister of Culture Smt. Chandresh Kumari Katoch has said that there are 285
monuments/sites declared as of national importance in Maharashtra. The details
are at Annexure. The funds allocated and utilized for their conservation,
preservation, maintenance and development of environment during the last three
years are as under:

In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today Smt.
Katoch said, fortification wall of Daulatabad Fort,
Aurangabad and Old High Court Building, Nagpur have been identified for
declaration as of national importance in Maharashtra. As per sub-section 4(1) of the Ancient
Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1958, the Central
Government may after detailed scrutiny, verification of revenue records,
ownership issues, preparation of site plan, etc. take a decision to issue
notification in the Gazette of India inviting objections/suggestions from
interested persons on its intention to declare the same as of national
importance.
