The funds spent
for the smooth functioning and maintenance of NIFT’s centres during the last
three years, State and Centre-wise are annexed in the Annexure.
The Board of Governors (BOG) of
NIFT has sanctioned proposal for the establishment of NIFT Centre in Haryana
and Jammu & Kashmir. Status of the proposals of Haryana and J&K are as
follow:-

Govt. of Haryana has agreed to
provide 15 acres of land at village ManakpurNankchand
Block Pinjore District Panchkula
and financial assistance to the tune of D 99.71 crore which would cover construction of complete campus
including buildings for administrative support, academics that will include
space for faculty, class rooms, labs, Resource Centre, IT facilities, hostels
and residential facilities and an auditorium for 1000 persons. These funds
will also be covering the revenue deficits for running the centre for initial
three years.
NIFT has initiated the preparation of a detailed project report (DPR)
on establishment of NIFT Panchkula.
Draft MoU
to be entered between NIFT & State Government of Haryana has been
prepared and sent to State Government of Haryana vide letter dated
11.04.2013.

J&K
|
State
Government of J&K has allotted 20 acres of land in Budgam
for NIFT permanent Centre. Permanent
Centre of NIFT is expected by the year 2016.Funds to the tune of D 2.50 crore
have been released by Govt. of J&K for initial activities. State Govt. of
J&K has identified State Industrial Development Corporation Ltd. (SIDCO)
as its agency for construction of project. Ministry of Textiles has agreed to
bear 50% of the cost of infrastructure for setting up of Centre in J&K.
Quota of 35% would be provided to the residents / domicile of J&K state.
Based
on the request of the State Govt. of J&K, NIFT has, in principle, agreed
to commence functioning of temporary campus in Ranreth
Industrial Estate of SIDCO. Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been prepared
and lease deed to be entered between NIFT and State Govt. of J&K for land
of temporary Centre has been prepared and sent to Govt. of J&K for
necessary action. NIFT has initiated the process of identifying competent
faculty members to teach at NIFT Srinagar Campus.

BOG NIFT has
given in principle approval for the opening of new Centre in Chhattisgarh
subject to land and fund requirement as per the policy of NIFT, status is as
follow:

principle approved the opening of a new Centre in Chhattisgarh subject to land
and fund requirement as per the policy of NIFT.
New NIFT Centre Policy was approved by the
BOG NIFT in its meeting held 04.09.2012 and the same along with application
form and model MOU was sent to Government of Chhattisgarh on 17.10.2012 with a
request to submit their proposal as per new policy. However, no response since then has been
received from the State Government.
In addition, the States Punjab, Tripura, Mizoram, Goa and Assam had
sent their request for establishing a new NIFT Campus in their States. Proposal
from the above State Governments and the follow up action taken are as given

in September 2005 had requested for merger of their existing institute at Mohali with the NIFT.
The
matter of merger of Northern India Institute of Fashion Technology (NIIFT) Mohali with NIFT was last discussed in the Board meeting
of NIFT held on 13.02.2013. The
decision of the Board of NIFT was conveyed to State Govt. of Punjab on
01.03.2013 for necessary action. However,
no response since then has been received from the State Government.

Tripura
|
Tripura
had requested in September 2009 for opening a new NIFT Campus.
A
new NIFT Centre Policy was approved by the BOG NIFT in its meeting held
04.09.2012 and the same along with application form and model MOU was sent to
Government of Tripura on 17.10.2012 with a request to submit their proposal
as per new policy. However, no
response since then has been received from the State Government.

|
Mizoram had requested in October 2009 for
opening of a new NIFT Campus near Aizwal City.
New NIFT Centre Policy was approved by the
BOG NIFT in its meeting held 04.09.2012 and the same along with application
form and model MOU was sent to Government of Mizoram on 17.10.2012 with a
request to submit their proposal as per new policy. However, no response since then has been
received from the State Government.

Goa
|
On the request of State Govt. of Goa, the
task of setting up of a NIFT outreach Centre at Goa was assigned to Director,
NIFT Mumbai in 2005.
As MOU was signed between NIFT and Govt. of
Goa on 3rd August, 2006 for setting up a fashion institute at Goa.
This institute was scheduled to be established under a Network Coordination
Committee consisting of members from Govt. of Goa and NIFT under the
Chairmanship of Hon. Industries Minister, Govt. of Goa. A suitable place was
also identified at Shram Shakti
Bhavan for the establishment of the institute.
Subsequently,
a new NIFT Centre Policy was approved by the BOG NIFT in its meeting held
04.09.2012 and the same along with application form and model MOU was sent to
Government of Goa on 23.10.2012 with a request to submit their proposal as
per new policy. Director Mumbai had
met senior officials of Govt. of Goa. They did not show interest in opening
up of the institute. NIFT has closed
this matter as there has been no interest from Govt. of Goa on setting up of
NIFT Campus.

Assam
|
Assam
had sent a proposal for setting up of NIFT Campus in November 2009.
A
new NIFT Centre Policy was approved by the BOG NIFT in its meeting held
04.09.2012 and the same along with application form and model MOU was sent to
Government of Assam on 17.10.2012 with a request to submit their proposal as
per new policy. However, no response
since then has been received from the State Government.
