Grants from Consolidated Fund of India for Welfare of Tribal Communities

 

          The Ministry releases funds under Article 275(1) of the Constitution of India to 26 States having ST population for promotion of the welfare of Scheduled Tribes and upgradation of the levels of administration in Scheduled Areas.  Details of fund released under the programme during 2009-10 to 2011-12, State-wise is as below:

The grants released under Article 275(1) of the Constitution  are meant to bridge gaps in the infrastructure in areas/sectors critical to the enhancement of the Human Development Index of Scheduled Tribe population. Strengthening and upgrading the level of administration in sectors of education, health, agriculture, animal husbandry, irrigation, water conservation, connectivity, communication, electrification etc. is the collective responsibility of all the line Ministries of the Central Government and the State Governments under Tribal Sub-Plan. This Ministry steps in to bridge the critical gaps through its own programmes including Grants under Article 275(1).
