Completion of Dwelling Units


            The Minister for Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation Kumari Selja has said that city/town-wise details of dwelling units completed in various cities/towns of Uttar Pradesh under the Integrated Housing and Slum Development Programme (IHSDP) during each of the last three years and the current year as reported by the State Government in Progress Reports are annexed.


In a written reply in the Lok Sabha today Kumari Selja said, review meetings have been held at the Central/Regional and at State level for various cities/towns across India including those from Uttar Pradesh regarding implementation of Basic Services to the Urban Poor (BSUP) and Integrated Housing and Slum Development Programme (IHSDP) projects.


She said, the Government has extended the Mission Period for two years upto March, 2014 for completion of on-going projects sanctioned upto march, 2012 and implementation of reforms so that the States may utilise the funds allocated under BSUP and IHSDP. States have been advised during the course of review meetings at Central/Regional and at State level:


(i)    to start the non-starter projects and take action to complete projects according to a time-bound action plan;


(ii)    to achieve the completion of houses within the Mission period as early possible; and


(iii)   to pursue States to provide additional state share to implementing agencies to meet cost escalation and also where urban local bodies and beneficiaries are  not in a position to contribute their share due to poor financial health.
