Aerocity Near IGI

The Committee set up by Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) to examine the security aspects of the aerocity project by Delhi International Airport (P.) Ltd. (DIAL) has submitted its report. The Committee had recommended several mitigation measures for improving security and the same have already been taken care of.

The safety norms of Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport have been taken into consideration in building the aerocity. The Airport Operator of IGI Airport, DIAL, did not obtain any No Objection Certificate from BCAS. There is no such requirement as on date, to obtain the No Objection Certificate from BCAS.

The Aerocity Project falls well outside the operational area of the Airport. The construction works of the project are being undertaken according to plans duly approved by the appropriate authority.

This information was given by the Minister of Civil Aviation Shri Ajit Singh in a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha today.
