Admiral Nirmal Verma Felicitates Mr Aman Vyas- A Young Promising Yatchsman

Admiral Nirmal Verma, President of the Yachting Association of India (YAI), felicitated 18 year old Aman Vyas, a young promising yachtsman from Bhopal, during a special ceremony organised in his office at New Delhi. Admiral Verma also presented the yachtsman an impressive Tissot Seamaster wrist watch.

Mr Aman Vyas, who sails the 29er and 420 classes of boats, is a product of National Sailing School Bhopal. Having started sailing in 2006 in Bhopal, he demonstrated rapid progress and promise. In 2007, Aman Vyas won his first international medal, in the form of a Silver medal at the South Asian Yachting Regatta in Sri Lanka. From then the young yachtsman has gone onto win numerous national and international level Championships. Some of his more recent successes are a Gold in the ‘420 Coastal National Youth’ at Chennai in 2009 and 2010; Gold in the 2011 ‘29er National Championship’ at Chennai and medals at the India International Regatta at Chennai – a Bronze in 2009 and Gold in 2010. Aman Vyas was also awarded the Eklavya Award for year 2008 by the Government of Madhya Pradesh.

The focus of the YAI has been to tap the enormous potential available in the country in the field of sailing and convert it into success at national and international levels. With this in mind, the YAI helped the Government of Madhya Pradesh to set up National Sailing School, Bhopal. Today young sailors from the National Sailing School have been regularly featuring amongst the top at various yachting events being held in the country.
