Funds for Bansagar Project


            Construction of Bansagar Unit I Dam was started in 1978.The Bansagar Unit I Dam was completed in the year 2006 and the reservoir was impounded in 2006 monsoon. The Canal system of the project is being executed by the respective State Govt. in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

            Total expenditure on Bansagar Unit I Dam up to December, 2011 was Rs. 1534.694 crores.  An amount of Rs. 364.984 crore for Bansagar Unit I Dam (Madhya Pradesh) and Rs 368.428 crore for Bansagar Unit II Canal (Madhya Pradesh) has been released as Central Assistance under the Accelerated Irrigation Benefits Programme (AIBP) up to March, 2012.

   The following irrigation potential is proposed to be  created :-

                        Annual Irrigation in Madhya Pradesh             :           2.49 lakh hectare.

                        Annual Irrigation in Uttar Pradesh                   :           1.5 lakh hectare

                        Annual Irrigation in Bihar                                 :           0.94 lakh hectare
