Hostels of OBC Students in Rajasthan
The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment is implementing a Centrally Sponsored Scheme of Construction of Hostels for OBC Boys and Girls. Under the Scheme, hostels are sanctioned to various State Governments/UT Administrations in the country, including Rajasthan, based on the proposals received from the concerned State Government, utilization of funds sanctioned in the past and budgetary allocation available under the scheme. So far 23 hostels have been sanctioned under the Scheme to State Government of Rajasthan and an amount of Rs. 705.76 lakh has been released as Central share. Out of 23 hostels sanctioned, 12 hostels have been constructed. Remaining 11 hostels are likely to be completed by March, 2013.

The Government of Rajasthan has intimated that 43 hostels for OBC students are in operation in Rajasthan and there is no shortage at present.

This information was given by the Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, Shri Mukul Wasnik in a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha today.
