The All-India Consumer Price Index Numbers for Agricultural Labourers and Rural Labourers (Base: 1986-87=100) for November,  2011 increased by 2 points and 1 point respectively to stand at 621( Six hundred and twenty one)  points for both the series.

                The rise/fall in index varied from State to State.  In case of Agricultural Labourers, it recorded an increase between 1 to 7 points in 13 States and a decrease between 2 to 6 points in 7 States.  Maharashtra with 692 points topped the index table whereas Himachal Pradesh with the index level of 515 points stood at the bottom.

                    In case of Rural Labourers,  it recorded an increase between 1 to 7  points in 13  States and a decrease between 1 to 4 points in 7 States. Maharashtra with 683 points topped the index table whereas Himachal Pradesh with the index level of 536 points stood at the bottom.

                   The Consumer Price Index Numbers for Agricultural Labourers in respect of Jammu & Kashmir, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu States registered the maximum increase of 7 points each whereas in respect of Rural Labourers, the highest  increase of 7 points was observed by Tamil Nadu State.  The increase in indices was  mainly due to increase in the prices of ragi, mustard oil, milk, got meat,  mixed spices, vegetables & fruits, firewood and bus fare. The Consumer Price Index Numbers for Agricultural Labourers  in respect of Haryana State registered the highest decrease of 6 points and for Rural Labourers in respect of Haryana and West Bengal  States registered the maximum decrease of 4 points each mainly due to decrease in the prices of vegetables & fruits.

                Point to point rate of inflation based on the CPI-AL and CPI-RL decreased from 9.36%  and 9.73%  in October, 2011 to 8.95% and 9.14% respectively in November, 2011.  Inflation based on food index of CPI-AL and CPI–RL are 5.88% and 5.87% respectively in November, 2011.

The CPI - AL/RL for December, 2011 will be released on 20^th January, 2012 .
