Clarification on Utlisation of Traffic Rights by Indian Carriers

It is clarified that the utilization of Indian carriers for the year 2010-11 which is around 20% is against the total entitlement/ or total capacity agreed to in various bilateral air services agreements. As against this, the foreign carriers also utilized 39% of their entitlements. It must be remembered that India has bilateral Air Services agreements with 109 countries and flights operates to less than 50 countries.
If we are however to consider the total utilized operational capacity of 5.44 lakh seats per week for both Indian and foreign carriers, the utilization of Indian carriers of 1.93 lakh per week would thus be 35.5% and for foreign carriers the utilization of 3.51 lakh seats per week would be 64.4%.
