Reactors Purchased from Russia
Vodo Vodyanoi Energetichesky Reactors (VVER) of one thousand megawatt each for installing them in Kudankulam, Tamilnadu have been purchased from Russia. Both are being set up in technical cooperation with Russian Federation.
While the design and supply of major equipment are in the Russian scope, construction, commissioning and some of the suppliers are in Indian scope. The final agreement in this regard was signed on July 24, 2001.
