The National Small Industries Corporation Ltd. (NSIC), has entered into an agreement with One Village One Product Board, Malawi for mutual co-operation for the development of small enterprises in Malawi. The salient features of the Agreement are:

-      to carry out industrial potential surveys and feasibility studies to identify thrust areas and opportunities for development of small enterprises in Malawi.

-      to carry out entrepreneurship development programmes like setting up of Incubator Centres in Malawi, training of prospective Malawian entrepreneurs in different sectors as per mutually agreed terms.  Also link identified business opportunities with entrepreneurs.

-   to facilitate enterprise-to-enterprise contacts between enterprises in India and Malawi.

-      to exchange business missions to help initiate technology transfer and sustainable business alliances between enterprises of India and Malawi.

-      to facilitate technology transfer from India in specific industrial sectors to set up small enterprises and realize industrial partnerships in Malawi.

-      to facilitate and assist in organizing technology workshops and seminars in Malawi to promote Indian technologies.

-      to exchange and disseminate information on goods, services and partnerships/ joint venture possibilities for the small enterprises.

As per the agreement, there has been exchange of delegations for sharing experiences for the development of MSMEs of two countries.  This included visit of high level delegations from Malawi consisting of officials from One Village One Product (OVOP) and the visit of the Minister of Trade & Industry of Malawi to NSIC Incubation Centre in New Delhi.  Visit of Malawian delegation to technology exposition “Techmart India” in November, 2010 and November, 2011 resulted in exposing Indian MSMEs to Malawian markets for export of Indian Technologies and goods.

This information was given by the Union Cabinet Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Shri Virbhadra Singh in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha today.
