The total number of road accidents, persons
killed and injured during the years 2008 and 2009 (the latest available data)
due to non-motorized vehicles comprising cycles, cycle rickshaws, hand drawn vehicles
and animal drawn vehicles is given below:

Subject to availability
of funds and land, service roads are provided along National Highways to
segregate local traffic, including non-motorized vehicles, from National
Highway traffic, wherever required.
