The funds allocated under the DDRS Scheme during a particular year are further allocated to various States/UTs on a notional basis, which is known as notional allocation.  This is based on the proportion of the population of persons with disabilities in a State to the total disabled population of the country as well as the demand under the ongoing projects being implemented by NGOs in that State/UT.  Some States have a greater number of NGOs and therefore the releases to NGOs in such States is higher as compared to others.

This information was given by the Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Shri D. Napoleon in a written reply to a question in  Rajya Sabha today.
