Basic Statistics for Local Level Development Scheme
The Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Statistics and Programme Implementation Shri Srikant Kumar Jena informed the Lok Sabha today that Basic Statistics for Local Level Development (BSLLD) is a pilot scheme and the first phase of BSLLD to collect local level data of 2008-09 has been implemented in 32 States/UTs covering about 500 Gram Panchayats in each State/UT. In Delhi, Goa and Chandigarh, the pilot scheme was not implemented due to administrative reasons. So far 27 States/UTs have submitted their reports to the Ministry.

In a written reply he said, the States/UTs which have submitted their reports are: Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Sikkim, Nagaland, Manipur (Two district out of four districts), Mizoram, Meghalaya, Assam, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Orissa, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka (Two out of three districts), Lakshadweep, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Andaman Nicobar Islands.

He said, based on reports of the States/UTs, for Phase-I of the pilot, a Cross Sectional Synthesis report has been prepared. Second phase of pilot scheme for collecting local level data for 2009-10 is being implemented in those States/UTs where first phase of the scheme has been completed and Utilisation Certificates alongwith reports have been received.

The Minister said, the following 5 States/UTs viz. Jammu and Kashmir, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Daman & Diu and Dadra & Nagar Haveli have not submitted the report of first phase of BSLLD.
