Growth of Agro and Rural Industries
The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) has been promoting agro and rural industries in the country, including Jharkhand which has the potential for the growth of agro and rural industries, including mineral and forest-based industries. The Ministry in particular has been implementing a credit-linked subsidy programme named Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) for providing margin money assistance for setting-up of micro- enterprises in the non-farm sector. During the last three years, a total of 2396 units have been assisted in Jharkhand with margin money assistance of ` 40.43 crore, providing employment to estimated 23680 persons under PMEGP. Entrepreneurship development training and backward and forward linkages are integral components of PMEGP.

This information was given by the Union Cabinet Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Shri Virbhadra Singh in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha today.
