DR. Charan Das Mahant Assumes Charge as
Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Processing Industries
Dr. Charan Das Mahant took over as Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Processing Industries here today.
Born in1954 at Saragaon, Distt. Janjgir Champa, (Chhatisgarh) Dr. Mahant is a Ph.D. He is agriculturist and social worker by profession. He represents Korba Lok Sabha Constituency in Parliament.
Dr. Mahant was re-elected to 15th Lok Sabha for 3rd term in by-election in 2009. Earlier, Dr. Mahant was Member, Consultative Committee on Coal and Central Rural Development Council.
Dr. Mahant has also held ministerial portfolio in Departments of Agriculture, Commercial Tax and Home Affairs and Public Relations in Madhya Pradesh Government.
