EPCH to Honour 53 Companies with Export Awards on December 22
Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH) will be organizing 17th Export Award Function here on December 22, 2010. 53 exporters will be honoured with trophies, awards and merit certificates for outstanding performance during the year 2008-09.
The awards will be presented by the Union Textiles Minister, Thiru Dayanidhi Maran. The Minister of State for Textiles, Smt. Panabaaka Lakshmi, Smt. Rita Menon, Secretary, Ministry of Textiles and Mr. R. N. Choubey, Development Commissioner (Handlooms) will also grace the occasion.
The export awards have played an important role in achieving excellence in the field of handicrafts and promotion of exports of handicrafts. The export awards were instituted by the Council in 1989 with the objective of recognizing the efforts and contribution made by exporters in achieving excellence in export performance.
Five types of awards will be given to the exporters of handicrafts. The top Export Award Trophy is given on the basis of highest export performance of all items of Handicrafts category. There will be awards for 22 classified categories which also include top export award, award for miscellaneous crafts and woman entrepreneurs. In addition, five regional awards will also be given. The woman entrepreneur award is given to a company which is either led by a woman or is wholly owned and directed by women. Further, five Life Time achievement awards will also be given to the leading handicrafts exporters for outstanding contribution to the promotion of handicrafts exports over the years.
Merit Certificates will also be given to those who stand second in the export performance in each category.
