Private Investment in Freight Marketing
With an aim to attract private investment in freight marketing, Railways held two meetings with trade and industry. The issues raised by industry are inter-alia criteria for calculation of freight rebate, period of freight rebate, permission for maintenance of rakes at private sidings, inclusion of joint ventures in eligibility criteria etc. The issues raised by industry in regard to Wagon Leasing Scheme (WLS) are inter-alia to allow general pool wagons, one time registration, allow procurement and sale of wagons from/to all parties, exemption from payment of stabling charges ad empty haulage charges. The Railways is actively pursuing with industry to invest in infrastructure to create a win-win situation for both.
