More than Rs.10,435 Crore Provide for the Development of Small Towns
The Urban Infrastructure Development Scheme for Small & Medium Towns (UIDSSSMT), a sub component of Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) has been launched for providing basic facilities and upgradation of infrastructure of small and medium towns in the country. Against the overall allocation of Rs.11400 crore provided under UIDSSMT, more than 91.5 per cent of funds amounting to Rs. 10435.93 crore have been committed for 764 projects in 641 towns of 28 States and 3 Union Territories. Of the funds committed, more than 68 per cent of funds amounting to Rs.7110.30 crore have already been released to the States/UTs. Of the sanctioned projects, 123 projects have been completed. The remaining projects are under various stages of implementation.

This information was given by the Minister of State in the Ministry of Urban Development, Shri Saugata Roy in written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha today.
