Supply of Insulin
As per information available from Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation and National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority there is no information in respect of disruption of Insulin supply owing to the constant increase in the number of diabetic patients in the country.

Insulin is a scheduled drug listed in Schedule I of the Drugs (Price Control) Order, 1995 for price control. Some of the insulin preparations are also included in the list of life saving drugs for the purpose of exemption of customs duty. Insulin preparations (Porcine Insulin Zinc Suspension and Porcine and Bovine Insulin) are classified as life saving drugs in Custom Notification [List 4 (Sl. No. 83 and 85), General Exemption No. 122] and attract nil custom duty.

This information was given by the Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers Shri Srikant Kumar Jena in a written reply in the Lok Sabha today.
