Network of Protected Areas Eastern Ghats to Protect and Conserve Wildlife
The Government of Andhra Pradesh has declared Papikonda as a National Park in the Eastern Ghats to conserve wildlife and its habitat. Further a network of Protected Areas including those in Eastern Ghats has been established to protect and conserve wildlife including rare animals and their habitats. As per the information received from the State Government of Andhra Pradesh, there is no proposal before the Government of Andhra Pradesh to build an animal corridor across river Godavari to link the two parts of Papikonda National Park.

This information was given by the Minister of State for the Ministry of environment and Forests(I/C) Shri Jairam Ramesh in a written reply to a question by Shri S.R. Jeyadurai in Lok Sabha today.
