Rs.1288.22 Crores Spent on NH in UP in this FY So Far
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has incurred an expenditure of Rs.1288.22 Crores in this financial year (so far) on construction and maintenance of National Highways (NH) in Uttar Pradesh. The expenditure for the same in the last financial year was Rs.2607.65 Crores. In the current Financial Year, an expenditure of Rs. 925.14 Crores has already been incurred for construction and Rs.45.98 Crores on the maintenance of NH under NHDP. In 2009-10, the expenditure for the construction and maintenance was Rs.1985.09 Crores and Rs.104.62 Crores respectively.

In addition to this, the Ministry has in this FY allocated Rs.430 Crores for NH (Original) works and Rs.71.13 Crores for Maintenance and Repairs (M&R) for non-NHDP roads. Of this, an expenditure of Rs.270.32 Crores for NH (O) and Rs.46.78 Crores for M&R has been incurred till date. In the last financial year, the full expenditure out of the total allocated amount of Rs.433.11 Crores was done whereas for M&R an expenditure of Rs.84.83 Crores was incurred against the allocation of Rs. 73.93 Crores.

Maintenance & repair of National Highways is a continuous process and is carried out according to inter-se-priority and availability of funds. Recently some national highways in Uttar Pradesh were damaged due to heavy rains and floods. Efforts have been made to make these national highways traffic worthy.
