NHAI Raised Rs.1069 Crores from 54 EC bonds till October 2010
NHAI has raised Rs.1069.47 crores as borrowings from the market through issue of 54 EC bonds till October 2010. It has raised Rs.1148.05 crores in 2009-10, Rs. 1630.74 crores in 2008-09, and Rs. 305.18 crores in 2007-08 through the issue of 54 EC Bonds. Market borrowings will help NHAI to tide over its expenditure-resource deficit. The bonds have been issued to meet the requirement of funds within the limit prescribed in the Union Budget under the Head Internal and Extra Budgetary Resources (IEBR).

Besides NHAI, the Government has also allowed Industrial Finance Corporation of India, Life Insurance Corporation of India; Infrastructure Development Finance Company, and Non-Banking Finance Companies classified as Infrastructure Finance Company by the Reserve Bank of India to issue long term infrastructure Bonds during the current financial year.
