Subsidy to Farmers on Crop Insurance Premium
Presently, subsidy on premium @10% to small and marginal farmers under ongoing National Agricultural Insurance Scheme (NAIS) and subsidy ranging from 25% to 50% to all farmers under Pilot Weather Based Crop Insurance Scheme (WBCIS) is provided. Subsidy is shared on 50: 50 basis by Central and State Governments. Besides, Pilot Coconut Palm Insurance Scheme (CPIS) has also been implemented from 2009-10 under which premium subsidy up to 75% is available to farmers.

This information was given by Prof. K.V. Thomas, Minister of State for Agriculture in written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha.
