Development of Chemical Fertilizers
The production and application of chemical fertilizers in the country is as per the chemical grades of fertilizer approved under Fertilizer Control Order, 1985. New fertilizers are included under FCO after proper due diligence and recommendations of ICAR regarding its utility for increasing agricultural productivity in the country.

Government has initiated national project on management of soil health and fertility with a view to facilitate and promote integrated nutrient management through judicious use of chemical fertilizers, including secondary and micro nutrients, in conjunction with organic manure and bio-fertilizers for improving soil health and its productivity. Financial assistance is provided to promote the use of organic manure.

Department of Fertilizers has also suggested fertilizer companies to co-market organic fertilizers along with chemical fertilizers with a view to promote use and improve supply of organic fertilizers. Companies have also been suggested to tie-up with local municipal authorities for manufacturing and marketing of organic manure based on municipal solid waste generated in the cities.

This information was given by the Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers Shri Srikant Kumar Jena in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today.
