Railway Revenue Earnings up by 7.73 Per cent During April- October 2010
The total approximate earnings of Indian Railways on originating basis during 1st April – 31st October 2010 were Rs. 52060.64 Crore compared to Rs. 48323.41 Crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 7.73 per cent.

The total goods earnings have gone up from Rs. 32453.64 crore during 1st April – 31st October, 2009 to Rs. 34629.13 Crore during 1st April – 31st October 2010, showing an increase of 6.70 per cent.

The total passenger revenue earnings during the first seven months of the financial year 2010-11 were Rs. 14870.29 crore compared to Rs. 13626.67 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 9.13 per cent.

The revenue earnings from other coaching amounted to Rs. 1453.24 crore during April- October 2010 compared to Rs. 1317.70 crore during the same period last year, showing an increase of 10.29 per cent.

The total approximate number of passengers booked during April-October 2010 was 4570.57 million compared to 4316.75 million during the same period last year, showing an increase of 5.88 per cent. In the suburban and non-suburban sectors, the number of passengers booked during April-October 2010 was 2333.79 million and 2236.78 million compared to 2215.15 million and 2101.60 million during the same period last year, showing an increase of 5.36 per cent and 6.43 per cent respectively.
