Address of MoS (P&NG) Shri Jitin Prasada at the Exhibition of Petrotech- 2010
‘ 20’

Following is the text of the speech delivered by  the Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Shri Jitin  Prasada   at the Exhibition  of PETROTECH- 2010:

“First of all I extend my heartiest welcome to the captains of the Industry. It gives me immense pleasure to be amongst you all and to see that over the years Petrotech has grown up to be one of the most prestigious events in the Oil & Gas industry.  Through many journeys and over 16 years & 8 editions, this program has flourished throughout its history because of participation and support from the Individuals and Companies alike.

2.                              India’s economic growth is highly dependent on sufficient energy supplies & energy security.  The exploration & production activities have been accelerated during last few years.  At the same time diversifying the energy mix, improving energy efficiency, fuel conservation and environment protection measures are equally crucial. Use of BS-III & IV fuels, compressed natural gas for public transportation and ethanol blending in gasoline are some of the new measures which we have promoted.

3.                              From its humble beginnings to current achievements, Petrotech has covered all areas of the oil & gas industry along with every possible facet of geology. Yet, there is more to say and more to learn. With India’s deepwater potential speaking for itself, we see a big leap in terms of energy security for India. Because of the widely recognized success and benefits of this event, it should boost growth in the geosciences in the future. The event – Petrotech-2010 Exhibition – will bring all those engaged in providing energy security on a common platform.  This will also underline the need for a balance between economic development and environment–consciousness.

4.                              I would like to share with you that this is the first carbon neutral event in the country. It is the first PETROTECH event with a strong focus on CSR. Again it is also for the first time that PETROTECH is being associated directly with the World Petroleum Council (WPC). We are organizing the 3rd WPC Youth Forum as a parallel Track to PETROTECH – 2010 on 2nd November, 2010.

5.                              We at the government are always ready to give full support to such kind of mega Oil & gas events which showcase the true potential & calibre of the industry. Such initiatives are strongly needed in order to achieve the energy targets & maintain the economic growth.

My best wishes to the whole industry for their participation and hope they have a fruitful experience during all the days at Petrotech. “
