Ayurvaid Bangalore gets first NABH Certificate in Ayurveda
Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Shri S Gandhiselvan has said that there is a need for emphasizing the quality assurance aspect of Ayurveda and with due care Ayurveda can offer safe and effective approach to holistic well being to all. He was speaking after inaugurating CCRAS – Sreedhareeyam Ayurvedic Opthalmic Treatment and Research Facility here today.
The Minister also released Hindi version of AYUSH news letter and a copy of Pharmacopeia. Earlier in the day, Shri Gandhiselvan also inaugurated the OPD of All India Institute of Ayurveda at Sarita Vihar.
Shri S. Gandhiselvan also presented the first NABH accreditation to AyurVAID Hospital. CEO and MD of AyurVAID Shri Rajiv Vasudevan received the certificate from the Minister. The hospital took eight months (approx) to achieve the quality standards defined by NABH for Ayurveda hospitals. The hospital was evaluated on the basis of benchmarks laid down in the form of 10 chapters, 94 standards and 489 objective elements. The standards focus on all aspects of service delivery like patient rights and education, infection control practices, trained and experienced staff, infrastructure and environment safety. The accreditation standards provide framework for improving quality and safety of patient care in the AYUSH (Ayurveda, Unani. Homeopathy, Siddha, Yoga & Naturopathy) hospitals.
Speaking on the occasion, Secretary, AYUSH Smt. S. Jaleja said that Ayurveda is a complete system of health and Government is committed to promote therapeutic education and research aspect of Ayurveda. Quality assurance of hospitals, medicines and colleges is at the forefront of the AYUSH Department’s efforts. NABH certificate to AyurVAID will result in instilling quality consciousness in the Ayurveda sector, the Secretary added.
