The term of office of eleven members of the Maharashtra Legislative Council, i.e. 6 from Local Authorities’, 2 from Graduates’ and 3 from Teachers’ Constituencies is going to expire on 5^th December, 2010 due to the retirement of the sitting members as detailed below :-

2. The Commission has decided to hold Biennial Elections from the above mentioned Local Authorities’, Graduates’ and Teachers’ Constituencies of Maharashtra Legislative Council in accordance with the following programme:-

3.	Date of Scrutiny of nominations	11^th November, 2010 (Thursday),
4.	Last date for withdrawal of candidatures	13^th November, 2010 (Saturday),
5.	Date on which poll will be taken, if necessary	27^th November, 2010 (Saturday), from 8.00 A.M. to 4.00 P.M.
6.	Counting of Votes	30^th November, 2010 (Tuesday), at 8.00 A.M.
7.	Date before which election shall be completed	4^th December, 2010 (Saturday),

3. The Model Code of Conduct will come into force with immediate effect in the district(s) the above Constituencies are comprised in.
