Army headquarters Transport Company Averts a CNG Blast on Ring Road
Army personnel living up to their reputation averted a major mishap on Ring Road near Moti Bagh Gurudwara. A CNG driven Maruti Van on Dhaula Kuan Fly Over caught fire. Col Mukesh Chadha, Commanding Officer of the Army Headquarters Transport Company and Special Traffic Warden of Delhi Police while returning from Small Arms Firing Range saw the van in flames. He immediately alerted the Control Room of his unit on Cell Phone to raise the fire alarm. In a matter of seconds the army personnel arrived at the spot with fire extinguishers and water bowser. The fire was brought under control within ten minutes.
Though the Van was badly gutted however timely action by army personnel ensured that the driver of the van was safe and the CNG Cylinder of the Van did not burst. The CNG Cylinder Blast could have led to major disaster and causalities due to accidents on the busy Ring Road. Showing complete presence of mind during the Fire Fighting Operation the traffic on the Ring Road was also regulated to ensure smooth flow of traffic as also no causality is caused to the passing by vehicles.
