MoS (DoNER) Dr Jitendra Singh visits site of North East Convention Centre to be set up in Delhi
Centre will act as a cultural and information hub of the NE Region in Delhi
Minister asks officials to expedite the process of construction
The Union Minister of State (I/C) Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh visited the site and reviewed the progress of North East Convention Centre, which is being set up in Delhi. The Additional Secretary, Ministry of DoNER, Shri Indewar Pandey and other officials were also present.
The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has allotted a land for the project at Sector-13, Dwarka, New Delhi to North Eastern Council (NEC) for the purpose of construction of North Eastern Convention Centre. The area of the site is 5359 sqm (1.32 acres). This Centre will act as a cultural and convention/information hub of the North Eastern Region in Delhi. It will be constructed at par with the international standards and will have a library-cum-reading room with material on North Eastern Region, an art gallery showcasing the North East.
During the site visit, DrJitendra Singh instructed the concerned officials to expedite the process of construction work. He said that the layout and the design of the project has been approved and construction work will soon start. The Convention Centre will include an Auditorium, State Handloom Display, Food Court, Exhibition Space, Banquet Hall, Seminar Hall, Museum and library, among others. The Minister said that North East region and its development is on the priority of the Government led by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He further said that the Government has taken various steps to promote the culture of North East region and this Centre will help in showcasing the rich culture of this region.
