In a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha today, the Minister of State forShipping (I/C) and Chemical & Fertilizers Shri Mansukh Mandaviya informed that thepresent traffic handling capacity of Mumbai Port and Jawaharlal Nehru Port are 78.4 and 118.3 Million Tonnes Per Annum respectively. He informed thatthe ports have taken up several projects to further enhance their capacity. The details of such projects are as under:-

The Minister also informed that the JNPT has recently increased its draft from 14m to 15m which has enabled it to accommodate vessels of 12000 plus Twenty-Foot Equivalent Unit (TEU) capacity.
