Consultative Committee of the MPs for the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas meets

Meeting of the Consultative Committee of the Members of Parliament for the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas on “Steps taken to promote Gas economy” was held here today. Chaired by the Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas ShDharmendraPradhan, the meeting was attended by ShBhanuPratap SinghVerma, Dr RavindraBabuPandula, ShVikramUsendi, Dr Ashok Bajpai andSh S. R. Balasubramoniyon.

In his opening remarks, ShPradhan said that the Government has taken a number of steps to reform gas sector so as to increase the share of natural gas in our energy basket. He said that the steps included introduction of HELP and OALP, Promoting Enhanced Recovery Methods for oil and gas, DSF policy, Creation of National Data repository, expansion of CGD network, laying of pipelines, development of gas infrastructure, New marketing model. ShPradhan said that efforts are underway to develop an ecosystem of national gas grid. He talked about progress being made to develop compressed biogas from the biomass and agricultural wastes. Hon’ble MPs made certain suggestions, concerning the subject.
