The Union Cabinet today approved constitution of Special Investigating Team (SIT) to implement the decision of the Hon’ble Supreme Court on large amounts of money stashed abroad by evading taxes or generated through unlawful activities.

2. Cabinet approves Supervisory Committee on Mullaperiyar Dam

The Cabinet today approved the constitution of a Supervisory Committee on the Mullaperiyar Dam to implement the judgment of the Hon’ble Supreme Court dated May 7, 2014.

3. Minimum Support Prices for Kharif crops for 2014-15 season

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, on the recommendations of Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP), has approved the following Minimum Support Prices (MSPs) for Kharif crops for 2014-15 season.

4. CCEA defers domestic natural gas pricing guidelines for wider consultations

The domestic natural gas pricing guidelines which were announced on 10 January 2014 were later deferred due to the Model Code of Conduct that had been effected in the country at that time.

5. Cabinet approves Transfer on lease of 12.91 acres of defence land to KendriyaVidyalayaSangathan at Air Force station Purnea

The Cabinet today approved the transfer on lease of 12.91 acres of defence land to KendriyaVidyalayaSangathan (KVS) at Air Force station Purnea.

6. 12th Plan scheme for modernization and strengthening of intellectual property offices

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the continuation of the Plan scheme to modernize and strength Intellectual Property (IP) offices during the 12th Plan period. The overall project cost would be Rs.309.6 crore, of which Rs.258 crore will be spent during 12th Plan and Rs.51.6 crore in the 13th Plan.

7. Additional allocation of 50 lakh tonnes of rice for BPL and APL families in States/UTs for the period July, 2014 to March, 2015

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved additional allocation for 50 lakh tonnes of rice for distribution to Below Poverty Line (BPL) families at BPL prices and Above Poverty Line (APL) price for the period July, 2014 to March, 2015 or till implementation of the National Food Security Act (NFSA) by the respective State/UT whichever is earlier.

8. Inclusion of onion and potato under the purview of stock holding limits under the Essential Commodities Act, 1955

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the inclusion of onion and potato under the purview of stock holding limits under the Essential Commodities Act, 1955.

9. Cabinet approves USOF supported scheme to provide mobile services in areas affected by Left Wing Extremism

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today gave its approval for providing mobile services at 2199 locations affected by Left Wing Extremism (LWE) in the States of Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.

10. Cabinet approves Nagpur Metro Rail Project

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, today gave its approval for the Nagpur Metro Rail Project covering a length of approximately 38.21 kms along two corridors.

11. Cabinet approves Digital India – A programme to transform India into digital empowered society and knowledge economy

The Cabinet today at the meeting chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi gave its approval for Digital India – A programme to transform India into digital empowered society and knowledge economy.  This is a follow up to the key decisions taken on the design of the programme during the meeting of the Prime Minister on Digital India Programme on August 7, 2014, and to sensitize all ministries to this vast programme touching every corner of the government.  This programme has been envisaged by Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY).

12. Revision of Rates of Royalty and Dead Rent in respect of certain minerals (other than minor minerals, coal, lignite and sand for stowing)

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, yesterday approved the revision of rates of royalty and dead rent of all major minerals other than minor minerals, coal, lignite and sand for stowing, as per provisions of Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) (MMDR) Act, 1957 It also approved the application of these rates in all the States / Union Territories (UTs).

13. Cabinet approves Signing of Memorandum of Cooperation between India and Japan in the field of healthcare

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today gave its approval for the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) in the field of healthcare between the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of India and the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare of Japan. The signing of this MoC will benefit people of both countries.

14. Cabinet approves Swapping of SOS village land measuring 2397 sqm. with equivalent airport land for construction of hangars at LokpriyaGopinathBordoloi International Airport, Guwahati

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today gave its approval for swapping of Save Our Soul (SOS) village land measuring 2397 sqm. with Airport Authority of India’s (AAI's) equivalent airport land measuring 2397 sqm. This will facilitate construction of hangars at the LokpriyaGopinathBordoloi International Airport (LGBI), Guwahati. The Secretary General, SOS village has already given his consent in writing for the swapping of the village land with AAI land.

15. Continuation of production of urea from MFL – Manali, MCFL – Mangalore and SPIC – Tuticorin after June 2014

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, today approved the continuation of production of urea from Madras Fertilizers Limited (MFL) – Manali, Manglore Chemicals and Fertilizers Ltd (MCFL) – Mangalore and Southern Petrochemical Industries Corporation (SPIC) – Tuticorin after June 2014 by using existing feedstock naphtha for three months beyond 30th June, 2014, that is from 1st July 2014 to 30th September, 2014.

16. Empowering the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways to decide on mode of delivery and amendments in Model Concession Agreement in respect of national highways projects

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, today gave its approval to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) to (a) amend the Model Concession Agreement (MCA) as may be required from time to time; and (b) to decide the mode of delivery of projects.

17. Cabinet approves Memorandum of Understanding for co-operation in the field of traditional systems of medicine and homoeopathy between India and Bangladesh

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today gave its approval for the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for co-operation in the field of traditional systems of medicine and homoeopathy between India Bangladesh.

18. Cabinet approves Release of additional installment of Dearness Allowance to Central Government employees and Dearness Relief to pensioners due from 01.07.2014

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today gave its approval for the release of an additional installment of Dearness Allowance (DA) to Central Government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) to pensioners with effect from 01.07.2014. This is an increase of seven percent over the existing rate of 100 percent of the Basic Pay/Pension, to compensate for price rise.

19. Cabinet approves Investment approval for construction of PakalDul Hydroelectric Project; Infusion of equity beyond Rs. 500 crore by NHPC in M/s. CVPPL and ex-post facto approval for formation and incorporation of M/s. Chenab Valley Power Projects Private Limited

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today gave its approval.

20. Cabinet approves Financial support to the National Export Insurance Account for overseas project exports

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today gave its approval for financial support to the National Export Insurance Account (NEIA) for overseas project exports by increasing the authorized corpus of the NEIA Trust to Rs. 4000 crore with risk underwriting capacity upto 20 times of the actual corpus. This is against the present leverage of 10 times and allocation of US$ 5 billion for Foreign Currency (FC) funds to Exim Bank out of Forex reserves, for on-lending by way of buyer's credit with NEIA cover.

21. Comprehensive Telecom Development Plan for North-Eastern Region

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today gave its approval for implementing a Comprehensive Telecom Development Plan for the North-Eastern Region (NER). The proposal entails an estimated expenditure of Rs. 5,336.18 crore (inclusive of all applicable taxes except octroi and local taxes). The plan will be funded from the Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF). The USOF would fund Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) and Operational Expenditure (OPEX) net of revenue for a period of 5 years.

 

22. Payment of statutory dues, salary and wages in sick/loss making CPSEs under the Department of Heavy Industry

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, today approved the proposal for providing non-plan budgetary support of Rs. 287.67 crore for liquidation of statutory dues (Provident Fund, Gratuity, Pension, Employees State Insurance and Bonus) and salary and wages from 01-09-2013 to 31-03-2014 for eleven Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) under the Department of Heavy Industry.

23. Development of additional liquid bulk terminal at Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, today approved the development of an additional liquid bulk terminal at Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT). The estimated total cost would be Rs.2496 crore. The award would be on highest 'Royalty' basis.

24. Proposal for Approval of the Scheme "Integrated Coffee Development Project" in the 12th Five Year Plan

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, today approved the proposal for implementation of the Integrated Coffee Development Project of the Coffee Board during the 12th  Five Year Plan (2012-13 to 2016-17).  This is based on the recommendations by the Expenditure Finance Committee (EFC) in its meeting held on 26th September 2013. 

25. Approval of Phase-V of Unique Identification project

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, today gave its approval for Phase-V of the Unique Identification (UID) scheme for undertaking enrolments in the four States of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh and Uttarakhand. With this, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has been given the target of generation of 100 crore Aadhaars by 2015. This includes including UID numbers issued in respect of enrolments done under the National Population Register process in 12 States/UTs allocated to it. Comprehensive proposals regarding Aadhaar Sampark Kendra, Information, Education and Communication Campaigns, Document Management System and Rent Rates and Taxes etc., will be prepared by the UIDAI and a revised cost estimate submitted for appraisal of the Expenditure Finance Committee.

26. Disinvestment of 5 percent paid-up capital in Oil & Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. out of Government of India shareholding

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, today approved the disinvestment of 5 percent paid-up capital in Oil & Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (ONGC) out of the Government of India’s shareholding of 68.94 percent.

 

27. Disinvestment of 10 percent paid-up equity capital in Coal India Ltd. out of Government of India shareholding

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, today approved the disinvestment of 10 percent paid-up equity capital in Coal India Ltd. (CIL) out of the Government of India’s shareholding of 89.65 percent.

28. Disinvestment of 11.36 percent paid-up equity capital of NHPC Ltd. out of Government of India shareholding

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, today approved the disinvestment of 11.36 percent paid up equity capital of NHPC Ltd. out of the Government of India’s shareholding of 85.96 percent.

29. Launching of National AYUSH Mission

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today gave its approval for launching of the National AYUSH Mission (NAM) with its core and flexible components.

30. Scheme on Enhancement of Competitiveness in the Indian capital goods sector

 

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, today approved the "Scheme for Enhancement of Competitiveness of the Capital Goods Sector" to boost the Indian economy. This scheme, on its implementation, would attempt to make the Indian capital goods sector globally competitive. The sub sectors of Capital Goods covered under the scheme are mainly for Machine Tools, Textile Machinery, Construction and Mining Machinery, and Process Plant Machinery. The proposed scheme addresses the issue of technological depth creation in the capital goods sector, besides creating common industrial facility centres.

31. Government sanctions a major power transmission scheme for Arunachal Pradesh & Sikkim to bring them fully into the grid

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, today approved the Comprehensive Scheme for Strengthening of Transmission & Distribution (T&D) Systems (CSST&DS) in Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim at an estimated cost of Rs.4754.42 crore. The scheme is to be taken up under a new Central Sector Plan Scheme of Ministry of Power (MoP).

32. India's participation in the Thirty Metre Telescope Project at Mauna Kea, Hawaii, USA

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today gave its approval for India's participation in the Thirty Metre Telescope (TMT) Project at Mauna Kea, Hawaii, USA at a total cost of Rs. 1299.8 crores from 2014-23.

33. Filling up of post of Mission Director sanctioned for the National Water Mission Secretariat through Central Staffing Scheme

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today gave its approval for filling up of the post of Mission Director sanctioned for the National Water Mission (NWM) Secretariat through the Central Staffing Scheme.

34. Agreement on "Electric Power Trade, Cross-Border Transmission Interconnection and Grid Connectivity" with Nepal

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today gave its approval for the India-Nepal Agreement on "Electric Power Trade, Cross-Border Transmission Interconnection and Grid Connectivity".

35. Memorandum of Understanding between India and United States for cooperation in gas hydrates

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today gave its approval for signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and the United States for cooperation in gas hydrates for a period of five years.

36. Joint Declaration of Intent between India and United States of America for cooperation in the field of higher education for implementation of Global Initiative of Academic Networks (GIAN) programme

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today gave its approval for signing a Joint Declaration between the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) of India and the National Science Foundation (NSF) of the United States of America, to initiate a new program entitled Global Initiative of Academic Networks (GIAN) in Higher Education. GIAN aims at tapping the talent pool of scientists and entrepreneurs to engage with the institutes of higher education in India to augment the country's existing academic resources, accelerate the pace of quality reforms, and further strengthen India's scientific and technological capabilities.

37. Joint Declaration of Intent for cooperation in the field of higher education for Indo-US partnership for Study Webs of Active-Learning for Young Aspiring Minds (SWAYAM), a programme for Online Education

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today gave its approval for signing of a Joint Declaration of Intent between the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and the U.S. Department of State for cooperation in the field of higher education for Study Webs of Active-Learning for Young Aspiring Minds (SWAYAM), a programme for online education. Under the cooperation, the SWAYAM platform server will be based in India and US universities will be invited to offer post-graduate academic programs with certification on the SWAYAM platform.

38. Withdrawal of Higher Education & Research Bill, 2011 from Parliament (Rajya Sabha)

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today gave its approval for withdrawal of the Higher Education and Research Bill, 2011 from Parliament (Rajya Sabha).

39. Restructuring of the Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan into Swachh Bharat Mission

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today gave its approval for restructuring of the Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan (NBA) into Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) and revision in the components of the programme.

40. Swachh Bharat Programme for Urban Areas

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today gave its approval for a massive program called "Swachh Bharat Mission for Urban Areas". This is proposed to be implemented over 5 years starting from 2nd October, 2014 in all 4041 statutory towns. The total expected cost of the programme over 5 years is Rs. 62,009 crore, out of which the proposed Central assistance will be of  Rs. 14,623 crore.

41. Establishment of the Clean Ganga Fund

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today gave its approval for establishment of the Clean Ganga Fund (CGF).

42. India's participation in the development of Chahbahar port in Iran

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today gave its approval for the framework inter-Governmental Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that is to be finalised by the Government of India with the Government of Iran.

43. Approval for Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project Phase-1

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today gave its approval for Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project Phase-1 covering a length of 35.96 km at a total project cost of Rs. 10,773 crore.

44. Productivity Linked Bonus for Railway Employees

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today gave its ex-post facto approval for the payment of Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) equivalent to 78 days' wages for the financial year 2013-14 to all eligible non-gazetted Railway employees.

45. Ex post facto approval regarding Special Banking Arrangement for payment of outstanding subsidy to fertilizer companies during 2013-14

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, today approved ex post facto the implementation of the Special Banking Arrangement (SBA) for Rs.14,500 crore for outstanding claims on account of fertilizer subsidy in the year 2013-14.

46. Four laning/two laning of Chandikhole-Dubari-Talcher section of National Highway – 200 and National Highway - 23 in Odisha

 

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has given its approval for development of the four laning/two laning of the Chandikhole-Dubari-Talcher section of National Highway – 200 and National Highway - 23 in Odisha. This work will be under the National Highways Development Project (NHDP) Phase-III. The approval is in Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) mode.

47. Financial support to Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited on account of liability arising from levy of Minimum Alternate Tax

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has given its approval for a proposal of the Department of Telecommunications to provide financial support to Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) due to its liability arising from levy of Minimum Alternate Tax (MAT).

48. Modified direct benefit transfer scheme to be relaunched in the country

The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, today approved the Modified Direct Benefit Transfer Scheme in LPG being re-launched in 54 districts from mid-November, 2014 and in rest of country from 1.1.15. The Cabinet has revisited the scheme design and processes and after thorough review, it has approved the Modified DBTL which will alleviate the hardships of the LPG consumers faced by them in the earlier scheme.

49. Policy framework for relaxations, extensions and clarifications at the development and production stage under psc regime for early monetization of hydrocarbon discoveries

The Cabinet Committee of Economic Affairs, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, today approved the proposal of Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas regarding “Policy Framework for Relaxations, Extensions and clarifications at the Development and Production stage under PSC regime for early Monetization of hydrocarbon discoveries”.  There is a reform initiatives which would help in monetization of some of the pending discoveries, lead to resolution of various long pending operational issues which are hampering E&P operations and create better climate for investment.

50. Revision of Domestic Gas Prices

The Cabinet Committee of Economic Affairs, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, today approved the new domestic gas pricing policy.

51. Deregulation of Diesel Prices

The Union Cabinet Committee of Economic Affairs, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, today approved the issues relating to the under-recovery on sale of diesel and its present status. Instructions have been issued today i.e. on 18th October 2014 to make the price of Diesel market determined with effect from midnight of 18th-19th October 2014. The prices of Diesel will be market determined at both Retail and Refinery Gate level for all consumers thereafter.

52. Ratification of the Nagoya-Kuala Lumpur supplementary protocol on liability and redress to the Cartagena protocol on biosafety by India

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today gave its approval for ratifying the 'Nagoya-KualaLumpur supplementary protocol on liability and redress to the Cartagena protocol on bio-safety' by India.

53. Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation in the field of oil and gas between India and Mozambique

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today gave its approval for signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation in the field of oil and gas between India and Mozambique for a period of five years.

54. Agreement on the abolition of visa requirement for holders of diplomatic and official/service passports between India Albania

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today gave its approval for signing of the agreement on the abolition of visa requirement for holders of diplomatic and official/service passports between India Albania.

55. Review of Foreign Direct Investment policy on the Construction Development Sector

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today gave its approval for amending the existing Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) policy on the 'Construction Development Sector' in line with the Budget announcement of the Government.

56. Transfer on lease of 4.687 acres of Defence land to KendriyaVidalayaSangathan at Air Force Communication Centre andTransmitting Station (AFCCTS), Gurgaon

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today gave its approval for transfer on lease basis of 4.687 acres (instead of earlier approved15.19 acres) of Defence land in perpetuity to theKendriyaVidyalaya(KVS) for construction of KendriyaVidyalaya (KV) school building and other related infrastructure required for properfunctioning of the KV No. 2, Sohna Road, Gurgaon.

57. School of Planning and Architecture Bill, 2014

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today gave its approval to introduce the School of Planning and Architecture Bill, 2014 in the Parliament to bring all three Schools of PlanningandArchitecture(SPAs) within the ambit of the School of Planning and Architecture Bill, 2014. The Bill would adhere to Government policies on reservations fromtime to time. The proposed Act will empower these Schools toaward degrees through an Act of Parliament.

 

58. Acquisition of a Polar Research Vessel

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved the acquisition of Polar Research Vessel (Ice-breaker, Research cum Supply Vessel) by the Ministry of Earth Sciences at a total cost of Rs. 1051.13 crore within a period of 34 months.

59. Minimum Support Price for Rabi Crops of 2014-15 season to be marketed in 2015-16

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved the Minimum Support Prices (MSPs) for Rabi Crops of 2014-15 season to be marketed in 2015-16

60. Amendments to the Merchant Shipping (Amendment) Bill 2013

The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, today approved the Ministry of Shipping's proposal for introducing 'official amendments' to the Merchant Shipping (Amendment) Bill 2013. The amendments incorporate the recommendations of the department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee and for accession to the Anti Fouling Systems (AFS) Convention 2001 of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) after enactment of the Bill.

61. Raising the authorized share capital of Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency

The Cabinet today at the meeting chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi gave its approval to raise the authorized share capital of the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd. (IREDA) from the existing level of Rs.1000 crore to Rs.6000 crore.

62. Amendments to the Merchant Shipping (Second Amendment) Bill, 2013

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi today approved the proposal of the Ministry of Shipping for introducing official amendments to the Merchant Shipping (Second Amendment) Bill, 2013. The amendments incorporate the recommendations of the department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee, and for ratification of the Maritime Labour Convention 2006 of the International Labour Organization (ILO) after enactment of the Bill. There are no financial implications.

69. North Eastern Region Power System Improvement Project for six (6) States (Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura and Nagaland) for strengthening of the Intra-State Transmission and Distribution System

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today gave its approval for the North Eastern Region Power System Improvement Project (NERPSlP) for six States (Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura and Nagaland) for strengthening of the Intra State Transmission and Distribution System at an estimated cost of Rs.5111.33 crore including capacity building expenditure of Rs.89 crore. The scheme is to be taken up under a new Central Sector Plan Scheme of Ministry of Power (MoP). The scheme is to be implemented with the assistance of World Bank loan and the budget of MoP. The project will be funded on 50:50 (World Bank loan: Gol) basis except the component of capacity building for Rs.89 crore for which GoI will bear entirely.

70. DeendayalUpadhyaya Gram JyotiYojana

The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, today approved the launch of DeendayalUpadhyaya Gram JyotiYojana (DDUGJY) with components (i) to separate agriculture and non agriculture feeders facilitating judicious rostering of supply to agricultural and non-agricultural consumers in rural areas and (ii) strengthening and augmentation of sub transmission and distribution infrastructure in rural areas, including metering of distribution transformers/feeders/consumers.

71. SAARC Motor Vehicle Agreement for the Regulation of Passenger and Cargo Vehicular Traffic amongst SAARC Member States

The Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, today approved the Signing and ratifying the SAARC Motor Vehicles Agreement at the SAARC summit on November 26-27, 2014 in Kathmandu. Further, the Cabinet approved the signing of a Bilateral Agreement for the regulation of passenger traffic between Government of India and Republic of Nepal on the sidelines of the forthcoming SAARC Summit in Kathmandu. The Cabinet has also authorized the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways to sign similar Bilateral Agreements and Protocols with other SAARC member States.

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today gave its approval forthe negotiating position for the 20th Conference of Parties (COP-20) on climate change scheduled to be held from 1 to 12 December, 2014 at Lima, Peru.

75. Amendments to Regional Rural Banks Act, 1976

 

The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, today approved the amendments in the Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) Act, 1976 to enhance authorized and issued capital to strengthen their capital base and to bring flexibility in the shareholding between Central Government, State Government and Sponsor Bank. The term of the non-official directors appointed by the Central Government will be fixed not exceeding three years.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has given its approval to increase the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for Fair Average Quality (FAQ) of "Milling Copra" for 2015 season to Rs.5550/- per quintal. This is an increase of Rs.300/- per quintal over the previous year’s MSP. The MSP of "Ball Copra" for 2015 season will be Rs.5830/- per quintal. This is an increase of Rs.330/- per quintal over the previous year’s MSP. The approved prices are as per the recommendations by the Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP).

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today gave its approval for extension of the contract for the Central Processing Centre (CPC) Project of the Income Tax Department at Bengaluru awarded to M/s Infosys Ltd by two years upto September 30th 2017. This would be after the end of the existing contract period on September 30th 2015 and for revision of the CPC project cost to Rs 1,078.59 crore.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved the scheme for setting up of 1000 MW of Grid-Connected Solar PV Power Projects with VGF (Viability Gap Fund) support of Rs.1000 crore, by CPSUs under various Central/State Schemes, in three years period from 2015-16 to 2017-18. The Scheme will have a mandatory condition that all PV cells and modules used in solar plants set up under this Scheme, will be made in India.

97. Creation of intra state transmission system in Tamil Nadu

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved the creation of the intra state transmission system in Tamil Nadu.  The total cost of the project is Rs.1593 crore.

98. Closure of EIL Asia Pacific SenderianBerhad (EILAP SDN BHD), a 100 percent subsidiary of Engineers India Limited (EIL)

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today gave its approval for an improved Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) for the employees of Central Inland Water Transport Corporation Limited (CIWTC) and disinvestment of CIWTC thereafter. The VRS currently in vogue in CIWTC is under the existing Central DA 1996/ Industrial DA 1997 is not attractive to employees and therefore does not evince much interest from the existing workforce of CIWTC.

PM launches Give up Subsidy

PM Modi on 16th March exhorted the better off sections of society to forego their LPG subsidy that can be utilized in providing subsidized LPG connections to the poor. Give it up” coined by PM at BJP National Executive meeting in on April 3,2015.Urging the well-off to give up their LPG subsidy, he said "gas cylinders surrendered by them would be transferred to the poor who use wood for cooking. If one crore people give up their LPG subsidy, one crore poor people will benefit as they will be given new LPG cylinders instead. According to Estimates, there are as many as 14.54 crore active LPG consumers in India, of which at least one crore consumers are eligible to surrender their subsidy.

43.Self Employment and Talent Utilisation (SETU) to be Established

SETU will be a Techno-Financial, Incubation and Facilitation Program to support all aspects of start up businesses, and other self-employment activities, particularly in technology-driven areas. An amount of Rs.1000 crore is being set up initially in NITI Aayog for SETU.

44.ATAL Innovation Mission (AIM) to be Set up

AIM will be an Innovation Promotion Platform involving academics, entrepreneurs and researchers and draw upon national and international experiences to foster a culture of innovation, R&D and scientific research in India.

45.National Investment and Infrastructure Fund(NIIF) to be Set up .

This will enable the Trust to raise debt, and in turn, invest as equity, in infrastructure finance companies such as IRFC and NHB. The infrastructure finance companies can then leverage this extra equity, manifold.

46. Finance Minister proposes to fully support Agriculture Ministry’s organic farming scheme – “ParamparagatKrishiVikasYojana”.

with a corpus of Rs. 20,000 crore, and credit guarantee corpus of 3,000 crore, which will refinance Micro-Finance Institutions through Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana.

49.Finance Minister proposed to establish National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF)

with an annual flow of Rs. 20,000 crore.  He said that he also intends to permit tax free infrastructure bonds for the projects in the rail, road and irrigation sector. He said the PPP mode of infrastructure development has to be revisited and revitalized.

50. Public Debt Management Agency (PDMA) to be set up

In order to promote investment in the country, the Minister proposed to set up a Public Debt Management Agency (PDMA) which will bring both India’s external borrowings and domestic debt under one roof.

PM Modi launches 3 Social Security Schemes

Prime Minister Modi launched three social security schemes at a function in Kolkata. The schemes –

*Pradhan MantriJeevanJyotiBimaYojana (PMJJBY)

*Pradhan MantriSurakshaBimaYojana (PMSBY)

and

*Atal Pension Yojana (APY) were simultaneously launched at 115 locations throughout the country.

The schemes -- two insurance products and one pension product -- are targeted especially to the unorganized sector and economically weaker population but others can enrolled themselves as well.A massive 80% of the country's population is still outside the insurance coverage while the government estimated that merely 11% of the working population are under pension net

Pradhan MantriJeevanJyotiBimaYojana will offer Rs 2 lakh cover at Rs 330 premium every year. Bank account holders in the age 18 to 50 years are eligible to take this facility. The life risk cover will get terminated after 55 years.

 

Pradhan MantriSurakshaBimaYojana will offer a renewable one year accidental death cum disability cover of Rs 2 lakh at Rs 12 premium every year. The insured will get Rs 1 lakh in case of partial permanent disability.

 

Atal Pension Yojana is for the people in the unorganized sector who are outside a formal pension net so far.The pension scheme would allow subscribers of age 18 to 40. The government willco-contribute 50% of total contribution or Rs 1000 per annum whichever is lower, for the first five years. Subscribers without any social security and who don' pay income tax will get this added benefit. However, people have to enroll themselves before December 31, this year to get government contribution.Under this scheme, subscriber will get guaranteed minimum pension from the age of 60. The pension could be Rs 1000, Rs 2000, Rs 3000, Rs 4000 or Rs 5000 per month, depending on the size of contribution.

In a large number of families, children help their parents in their occupations like agriculture, artisanship etc. and while helping the parents, children also learn the basics of occupations. Therefore, striking a balance between the need for education for a child and the reality of the socio-economic condition and social fabric in the country, the Cabinet has approved that a child can help his family or family enterprise, which is other than any hazardous occupation or process, after his school hours or during vacation.

The proposed amendments to the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 (“The NI Act”) are focused on clarifying the jurisdiction related issues for filing cases for offence committed under section 138 of the NI Act.

123.Cabinet approves signing of the Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Nepal (BBIN) Motor Vehicle Agreement for the Regulation of Passenger, Personal and Cargo Vehicular Traffic amongst BBIN.

The agreement will be signed on 15th June at the BBIN Transport Minister’s meeting in Thimpu, Bhutan.

124.Cabinet approves the Ratification of the International LabourOrganisation (ILO) Convention No. 185 on the Seafarers Identity Document (SID). A biometric based seafarer's identity document will be developed, mainly, to ensure a foolproof security system to ward off the potential risk of breach of security and possible terrorist attacks.

125.Cabinet approves the Ministry of Shipping's proposal for India's accession to the International Convention on Civil Liability for Bunker Oil Pollution Damage, 2001 (Bunker Convention) of the International Maritime Organization [IMO] as well as to amend the Merchant Shipping Act, 1958 to give effect to the Bunker Convention, Nairobi Convention and Salvage Convention.

130.Cabinet approves continuation, strengthening and establishment of KrishiVigyanKendras (KVKs) with an outlay of Rs.3900 crore. The scheme envisages continuation of 642 KVKs established till date and establishment of 109 new KVKs in the XII Plan, to carry out its wide range of activities.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi formally unveiled the Digital India project on 1st July. The program aims to make all citizens digitally literate and bring internet and e-governance to all sections of the society. The vision of Digital India program also aims at inclusive growth in areas of electronic services, products, manufacturing and job opportunities etc. The Prime Minister said that Digital India has drawn investments worth Rs 4.5 lakh crore and will create 18 lakh jobs. 141.Cabinet has approved the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and Canada in the field of Civil Aviation.

142.Cabinet gave its approval for forming an expert group under the Chairmanship of Shri Arvind Panagariya, Vice-Chairperson, NITI AAYOG, to classify the Caste names returned in the Socio Economic and Caste Census, 2011 (SECC).

143.Cabinet gave its approval for the Centrally Sponsored Scheme of the National Cyclone Risk Mitigation Project (NCRMP) Phase-II. The second phase will be implemented in the States of Goa, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra and West Bengal with World Bank Assistance at a total cost 2361.35 crore to address the vulnerability of the coastal community to cyclone. This section of the population is generally poor and from weaker sections of society.

144.Cabinet nod for extension for the next three years, that is upto 2016-17 of the scheme of recapitalization of weak Regional Rural Banks (RRBs). These banks are unable to maintain their minimum Capital to Risk weighted Assets Ratio (CRAR) of 9 percent. This decision will help them improve this ratio.

145.Cabinetapproved revised cost estimates for Phase-I of the Centrally Sponsored Scheme of National Cyclone Risk Mitigation Project for Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. The original cost has been enhanced by Rs. 835 crore to Rs 2331.71 crore from Rs. 1496.71 crore. This will address the vulnerability of coastal communities to cyclone. This section of the population is generally poor and from the weaker sections of society.

146.Cabinet gave its approval for the proposal to permit utilization of India's capital contribution to the SAARC Development Fund (SDF) for its Economic and Infrastructure Windows, in addition to the existing approval for utilizing India's capital contribution for the Social Window of SDF.

147.Cabinet approval for the second phase of eCourts Mission Mode Project at an estimated cost of Rs.1670 crore. It envisages enhanced ICT enablement of courts through universal computerisation, use of cloud computing, digitization of case records and enhanced availability of e-services through e-filing, e-payment gateways and mobile applications etc.

148.Cabinet nod to review the existing FDI policy on various sectors provided in the Consolidated FDI Policy Circular 2014, as amended by the Consolidated FDI Policy Circular 2015, by introducing composite caps for simplification of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) policy to attract foreign investments.

149.Cabinet gave its ex-post facto approval for Repealing and Amending (Third) Bill, 2015, which was introduced in Lok Sabha on 13th May, 2015 for repealing 187 Acts. The Cabinet also approved introduction of a new Bill, namely, the Repealing and Amending (Fourth) Bill, 2015 in the Lok Sabha for the repeal of 295 Acts, identified for repeal by the concerned Ministries/Departments and the Legislative Department.

154.Cabinet has given its approval to the creation of “National Investment and Infrastructure Fund”. The NIIF is being created with an objective of maximizing economic impact mainly through infrastructure development in commercially viable projects.

155.Cabinet has given its ‘in principle’ approval for hiving off mobile tower assets of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) into a separate company. This will help BSNL to realign its structure in the highly competitive telecom sector.   It will also help BSNL to unlock its tower assets and to improve its financial position.

156.Cabinet has given its approval to extend financial support of Rs 169.16 crore to Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and Rs 458.04 crore to Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) totaling Rs 627.20 crore on surrender of 800 MHz CDMA carriers in few of their circles.  These are four Licensed Service Areas (LSAs) of BSNL (one carrier of 1.25 MHz each) and MTNL in Delhi and Mumbai (two carriers of 1.25 MHz each).

157.Cabinet nod for decentralization shipping arrangements in respect of ocean transportation of cargoes under the control of Government/Public Sector Undertakings.With a view to empowering various Government Departments/Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) with adequate flexibility to directly make their own shipping arrangements in respect of ocean transportation of cargoes, the Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has given its approval to the proposal of the Ministry of Shipping for decentralizing existing chartering arrangements.

174. Union Cabinet  gave its approval to the Marginal Fields Policy (MFP), for development of hydrocarbon discoveries made by national oil companies; Oil & Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (ONGC) and Oil India Ltd. (OIL). These discoveries could not be monetized for many years due to various reasons such as isolated locations, small size of reserves, high development costs, technological constraints, fiscal regime etc. 

175. The Union Cabinet has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, to reimburse Rs.113.40 crore of losses on pulses imported between 2006-2011 by the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation (NAFED), Project and Equipment Corporation (PEC), State Trading Corporation (STC) and Metals and Minerals Trading Corporation (MMTC), apart from losses incurred in the sale of pulses upto six months after closure of the scheme. This will enable the Central PSUs to intensify trading activities to cool down prices.

176. The Union Cabinethas approved release of an additional installment of Dearness Allowance (DA) to Central Government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) to Pensioners w.e.f. 01.07.2015. This represents an increase of 6 percent over the existing rate of 113 percent of the Basic Pay/Pension, to compensate for price rise. 

177.Cabinet approves  Preferential Treatment by India to Least Developed Countries (LDCs) in Trade in Services in the WTO. India will notify preferential treatment to the LDCs in Trade in Services in respect of article XVI of the GATS (Market Access),Technical Assistance and capacity building and Waiver of visa fees for LDC applicants applying for Indian Business and Employment visas.  The preferences will be bound with validity for 15 years from the date of notification by India.

178.Close on heals of the decision on spectrum sharing, the Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, has approved a proposal of the Department of Telecommunications on guidelines for spectrum trading arising from the recommendations of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). Together with the earlier decision, this is expected to transform the spectrum usage in the telecom sector. 

179. The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has given its approval on the Constitution of the 21st Law Commission of India, for a period of three years w.e.f. 1st September. 2015 to 31st August, 2018. 

180. Union Cabinet has given its approval to the Amendment in the First Schedule of Industries (Development and Regulation) Act, 1951 to transfer the authority to regulate 'potable alcohol' to States as recommended by the Law Commission in its 158th Report. The existing heading "26 Fermentation Industries" in the First Schedule of Industries (Development and Regulation) Act, 1951 shall be substituted with the heading "26 Fermentation Industries (other than potable alcohol)". A Bill to this effect will be introduced in Parliament. 

181.Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has given its approval  for introduction of Gold Monetization Schemes (GMS), as announced in the Union Budget 2015-16.The objective of introducing the modifications in the schemes is to make the existing schemes more effective and to broaden the ambit of the existing schemes from merely mobilizing gold held by households and institutions in the country to putting this gold into productive use. The long-term objective which is sought through this arrangement is to reduce the country's reliance on the import of gold to meet domestic demand.GMS would benefit the Indian gems and jewellery sector which is a major contributor to India's exports. In fiscal year 2014-15, gems and jewellery constituted 12 per cent of India's total exports and the value of gold items alone was more than $13 billion (provisional figures).The mobilized gold will also supplement RBI’s gold reserves and will help in reducing the government's borrowing cost.

182. The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has given its approval to permit Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), up to 100 percent, under the automatic route, in the activity of White Label ATM (WLA) Operations subject  to  conditions.

183. The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, gave its approval for introduction of the Sovereign Gold Bonds Scheme. The scheme will help in reducing the demand for physical gold by shifting a part of the estimated 300 tons of physical bars and coins purchased every year for Investment into gold bonds. Since most of the demand for gold in India is met through imports, this scheme will, ultimately help in maintaining the country's Current Account Deficit within sustainable limits. 

184. The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has given its approval to the National Offshore Wind Energy Policy. With this approval, the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) has been authorized as the Nodal Ministry for use of offshore areas within the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of the country and the National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE) has been authorized as the Nodal Agency for development of offshore wind energy in the country and to carry out allocation of offshore wind energy blocks, coordination and allied functions with related ministries and agencies.

185.The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, has given its ex-post-facto approval to the capital infusion made in the Export Import Bank of India (EXIM Bank) of Rs. 800 crore, as approved in the Demands for Grants and consented to by the Finance Minister to support the future growth of the Bank.

186. The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved the creation of four posts of Directors for four new National Institutes of Design (NIDs) at Kurukshetrain Haryana, Maghya Pradesh capital Bhopal.,Jorhat in Assam and Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh.

187.In an ambitious bid to transform rural areas to economically, socially and physically sustainable spaces, the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi approved the Shyama Prasad MukherjiRurban Mission (SPMRM) with an outlay of Rs. 5142.08 crores. The Mission aims at development of rural growth clusters which have latent potential for growth, in all States and UTs, which would trigger overall development in the region. These clusters would be developed by provisioning of economic activities, developing skills & local entrepreneurship and providing infrastructure amenities.The Rurban Mission will thus develop a cluster of Smart Villages.

188. Union Cabinet has approved the proposal for providing concessional financing scheme to support Indian companies bidding for strategically important infrastructure projects abroad

(IIFCL). During 2007-08 to 2012-13, as approved in the Demand for grants to support the future growth of the company. 

190.The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has given its ex-post facto approval to provide an additional 50 days of unskilled manual work in the financial year over and above the 100 days assured to job card holders, in such rural areas where drought or natural calamities have been notified. This will enable States to provide additional wage employment to the rural poor in drought affected areas. The poorest rural households will benefit from this, as it will help in immediate absorption of rural seasonal unemployment, and reduce rural distress.

191. The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has given its approval for the proposal to promulgate the Negotiable Instruments (Amendment) Ordinance, 2015. The proposed amendments to the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 (“The NI Act”) are focused on clarifying the jurisdiction related issues for filing cases for offence committed under section 138 of the NI Act. 

192.The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved the transfer back by de-leasing of 72 acres and 3 marla of land adjoining the main water channel and forest area of the sub campus of the Central Institute for Research on Buffaloes (CIRB) at Nabha, Punjab to the Department of Animal Husbandry, Government of Punjab for maintaining of cattle at the State-of-the Art Advanced Cattle farm at Rauni (Patiala). 

193. The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today approved the introduction of an improved Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) for the employees of Hooghly Dock & Port Engineers Limited (HDPEL) and restructuring of the company through a Joint Venture (JV). The improved VRS package is based on IDA 2007 linked pay scale. The improved VRS Scheme would be open for three months with a provision of extension by another one month. After the implementation of the improved VRS, JV formation with the private sector would be attempted failing which the company would be disinvested.

195.Cabinet has approved creation of a Central Agricultural University at Pusa in Samastipur District of Bihar State by converting the State Agricultural University into a national level institution through strengthening of infrastructure, and manpower and provision of other facilities at a cost of Rs.295 crore. 196.Cabinet has given its approval to the revised cost estimate of the 1200 MW Punatsangchu-I Hydroelectric Projects in Bhutan of Rs. 9375.58 crore.

197. Cabinet has approved to provide additional interest subvention of 3 percent per annum to those farmers who repay on time (that is within one year of disbursement), their short-term crop loans taken during the year 2015-16. (21st July 2015)

201.The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved the setting up of Indian Sign Language Research and Training Centre (ISLRTC) as a Society under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. The ISLRTC will be under the aegis of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice &Empowerment. It shall be located initially at the Institute for Physically Handicapped, New Delhi. This decision will help the five million deaf community of the country. It shall provide for increased accessibility for the hearing impaired in education, in the workplace and in all activities of public life. 

202. The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has given its approval for extension of validity of Central Order No.SO.2559 (E) dated 30.9.2014 for a further period of one year, that is from 1st October, 2015 to 30th September 2016 in respect of pulses, edible oils and edible oilseeds. This will enable States to regulate trade of these essential commodities and to continue to take effective operations under the Essential Commodities Act, 1955. They can impose stock limits/licensing requirements etc. to curb unscrupulous trading, hoarding and profiteering. The extension will also help the States in tackling the problem of ensuring adequate availability of these commodities in the domestic market and keep prices under control. 

203.The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has given its approval for signing of Joint Declaration of Intent (JDI) between India and Germany for minor amendments in the earlier MoU for facilitating implementation of the programme "Indo-German Partnerships in Higher Education”.

Cabinet approves construction of National War Memorial :The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, today approved the construction of a National War Memorial and a National War Museum at Princess Park, near India Gate, New Delhi in memory of all Indian soldiers who have made the supreme sacrifice for the country post-independence. The estimated cost of the project will be around Rs. 500 crore and the total time for completion of the entire project is estimated to be five years.

207. Cabinet approves Protocol on framework for cooperation in the field of blue economy between India and Seychelles

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi,gave its approval for setting up of three new All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AllMS) at Nagpur in Maharashtra, at Manglagiri in Andhra Pradesh and at Kalyani in West Bengal under Pradhan MantriSwasthyaSurakshaYojna (PMSSY). This involves financial implication of Rs.4949 crores.

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, today gave its approval for the Revised Cost Estimate (RCE) of Rs.2904.04 crores for the Kaladan Multi Modal Transit Transport Project in Myanmar. The project will provide an alternate access route to the North-Eastern region of India and contribute towards the region's economic development. Being a key connectivity project, it will promote economic, commercial and strategic links between India and Myanmar.

216. Cabinet approves Upgradation of existing NIFT Campuses for implementation of reservation for OBC students – extension of timeline for utilization of fund

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved Upgradation of existing NIFT Campuses for implementation of reservation for OBC students – extension of timeline for utilization of fund. With this, extension of timeline is effective for utilization of balance available fund of Rs. 90.13 crore, by two years beyond 31.03.2015 that is upto March 2017. This will enable upgradation of facilities for implementation of OBC reservation in NIFT and operating the campuses more effectively and efficiently.
