Functioning of Central Agency upgraded
The case management system in the Central Agency Section of the Department of Legal Affairs situated in the Supreme Court has been computerized.

Keeping in view the fast pace of development in the field of information technology, it had become necessary to switch over from the terminal-based system to the client-server mode in the Central Agency Section which handles the entire litigation on behalf of the Central Government in the Supreme Court of India. Altogether 47 monitors with CPUs have been installed and some additional hardware requisitioned. The users are currently being trained in Open Office/MS Office packages. The NIC is in the process of converting the CASE INFORMATION SYSTEMS from Foxplus to Windows version in SQL Server and Dot Net.

This has greatly improved communication between the Central Agency and various departments and subordinate offices of the Government of India located in every corner of the country. They would now be in a position to instantly get in touch with the Central Agency Section, indeed a great improvement in managing Central Government litigation in the Supreme Court.
