Nominations for 2006 UNESCO Asia Pacific Heritage Awards for Culture Heritage Conservation
The Indian National Commission for Cooperation with UNESCO (INCCU) has received a request from UNESCO Bangkok Office to submit nominations for 2006 UNESCO Asia Pacific Heritage Awards for Culture Heritage Conservation. The Award has been established to recognize the achievements of individuals and organizations for their efforts in conservation and restoration of historic structures and buildings that are more than 50 years old and have been restored within the last ten years. Buildings must be privately leased or owned, and restoration must be the result of private initiative. This award will also consider entries relating to newly built structures which demonstrate outstanding standards for contemporary architectural design, which are well integrated into historic contexts. Each entry is required to be submitted with an official entry form together with drawings, photographs and project description containing synopsis of conservation project. Since the year 2000, fourteen entries from India have won awards under this programme including Krishan Temple, Punjab, Elphinstone College, Mumbai, St. Thomas Cathedral, Mumbai, Mehrangarh Fort, Rajasthan, etc.. The last date for sending the entries to UNESCO Bangkok Office is 31st March, 2006.

Entries in this regard are invited from the interested individuals/organizations, by 28th February 2006 along with all supporting documents required by UNESCO Bangkok Office in a prescribed proforma (which is available online at for onward transmission to UNESCO Bangkok Office.
