Commission's decision regarding alleged malpractices in Karnataka Rajya Sabha elections
Based on information received from various sources regarding alleged malpractices in the ongoing elections to the Rajya Sabha from Karnataka for which poll is scheduled to be held on 11th June, 2016, the Commission after taking into consideration the relevant facts and reports received from Returning Officers and Chief Electoral Officer, Karnataka has decided to file an FIR against Mr. Malikarjun Khube, MLA and other involved persons under section 171 (B) of IPC and relevant provisions of Corruption Act 1988.
Further keeping in view the need for a deeper and wider probe, Commission has further decided that the matter be investigated by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) .
