As per the Provisions of Andhra Pradesh
Reorganization Act, 2014 Government of India is committed to provide 100% funds
for the construction of Polavaram Project. All expenditure beyond 01.04.2014 is
to be borne by the Government of India.
Total expenditure incurred by the State
Government :-
During 2014-15 Rs.
439.98 cr.
During 2015-16 (upto Sept. 2015) Rs.1991.33
cr.
During 2014-15 and 2015-16, a total of Rs.345.0
cr. (Rs.245.0 + Rs. 100 cr.= Rs.345 cr.) has been reimbursed to the State
Government.
As of now a total of 22 packages/ contracts are
in place for a value of Rs.7906.85 cr. This comprises of 7 packages under
Right main canal system, 8 packages under Left Main Canal System and 7 packages
under Head works. It has been reported that the overall progress of the
project is about 34% up to the end of September 2015 with an expenditure of
Rs.7566.58cr.
So far as the project cost is concerned, the
Project cost of Rs.16010.45 cr(at 2010 -11 price level) has been approved by
the Advisory Committee of Ministry of WR, RD & GR. Investment clearance
for the same is awaited. As per the cabinet note an expenditure of Rs.5135.87
crore was incurred by the State Government upto 31.03.2014 and the balance
Rs.10874.58 crore (at 2010-11 price levels) is to be borne by the Government of
India.
It has been reported by the State Government that the project is
likely to be completed by March 2018.
