C-DOT celebrates Foundation Day

The affordable data services should reach every nook and corner of the country and C-DOT can play a role here, too, like it did in eighties by developing RAX for rural areas, said Shri G. B. Meemamsi, the founding Executive Director of C-DOT, while revisiting the glorious past of the premier telecom technology R&D centre of the Government of India. Padma Shri awardee telecom expert Shri Meemamsi said that C-DOT has once again proved that by dedication and hard work targets can be achieved. He said this in a function to celebrate C-DOT Foundation Day today in New Delhi. On the occasion Shri Vipin Tyagi, Executive Director, C-DOT mentioned that Make in India and Digital India aim to rejuvenate the industry through encouragement to indigenous R&D, manufacturing, entrepreneurship, skill development and standardization. A great emphasis has also been given to broadband access for all as a means of bringing in efficiencies and transparency in the governance and digitally empowering the citizens. The equitable and inclusive growth is the leitmotif of the Digital India initiative. C-DOT is working on a complete bouquet of broadband products and technologies, in core, in access, in wireless, wired and optical domains.

C-DOT, the telecom technology R&D centre of the Government of India and the front runner organization in making India self-reliant in the field telecommunications celebrated its Foundation Day today marking completion of an exciting journey of 31 years of R&D efforts in indigenous design, development and production of telecom technologies for Indian environment, at its campus located at Mehrauli, New Delhi. The event was held simultaneously at its Bengaluru campus situated at Electronic City.

The chief guest Dr. Boyd McGregor Murray gave his presentation on MIMO technology. Dr. Murray is a globally renowned expert in the field of Wireless Communication Technologies, who is currently working as Director at Murray Wireless Consulting, Australia.

Expressing his happiness, Mr. Vipin Tyagi, Executive Director, C-DOT said, “We are very excited about reaching this milestone and today’s ceremony reflects the joys and challenges of C-DOT over the journey that we have undertaken in the past 31 years. C-DOT in all these years had been in the technology forefront and significantly contributed to the Indigenization of telecom technology, digitization, bridging the digital divide between urban and rural, establishing strong telecom manufacturing infrastructure and employment generation. We are proud to have dedicated our efforts in catalyzing and achieving self-reliance in the telecom sector, nation building and growth of our economy and wish to pursue with same spirit and vigor”.

“I would also take the opportunity to thank the government for constant support for indigenous development and telecom fraternity - manufacturers, vendors, and other well-wishers, who have helped us in realizing and achieving our mission and always given support for our R&D endeavor”, he further averred.

An exhibition of Telecom products and technologies developed by C-DOT has also been put up at the venue. There would be live displays of our technology offerings in GPON, NGN, Terabit Routers, LTE-A, WiFi, NMS, Shareable BSS etc. Telecom products and technologies developed by C-DOT has also been put up at the venue. C-DOT’s technology offerings like Solar Powered WiFi, Long Distance WiFi, NMS-NOFN, WDAN, Mini 100G OTN Platform, GPON, Tele PlanNet, LTEA, Power Amplifier, Terabit Router and IMS Compliant NGN have been displayed live in the exhibition.
