Allocation of Iron Ore Mines

Under the provisions of the  Mines and Mineral (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957 and the Rules framed thereunder  respective  State Governments  are the Competent Authority for grant of mining  leases. According to information received in Indian Bureau of Mines in the recent past  six mining leases for extraction of iron ore have been granted. The details are provided in Annexure-I.

 

As per the available information with IBM twentynine(29) captive iron ore mines (public/private) reported production in the country during 2014-15 with total production of 43,885 thousand tonnes of iron ore. The details of captive mine for iron ore and production there from in Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Odisha and Rajasthan State is given as Annexure-II.

 

The assessment to ascertain the quantum of iron-ore in these mines is a continuous process of exploration. The details of the quantum of iron-ore deposits as on 1.4. 2013 is in Annexure-III
