River Front
Development (RFD) Projects help in control of Liquid & Solid waste
pollution in places where large congregation of public takes place on the banks
of the river for religious and tourism purposes. At the same time, these
projects help to facilitate public conveniences such as changing rooms, toilets,
sitting area, etc. apart from general beautification of the area.
The RFD project
proposals received by NMCG are at various stages of appraisal. Under the
Cabinet approved Namami Gange programme, Rs. 250 crore have been earmarked for
various RFD projects, which are expected to be completed by 2020.
